Good thing for the Fire

It was cold outside last night but we were toasty in the teepee.  Everyone bailed for the night except for me and my sister.  When we awoke, there was a light snow coming down.  I went in to the Inn to make some coffee and on my return, my sister and I chatted about our lives and how lucky and thankful we both were.

Family Photo in VT - Thanksgiving 2008

Vermont Thanksgiving 2008

Well, here we are in VT, enjoying a wonderful feast with family and friends, at my sister's B&B.  This has been more than feast, as we are now sitting in our teepee that my sister brought in from a company in Oregon that makes replica Native American items.  We just finished readings around the fire about the Indian tribes that lived in the regions where our towns are now located.  My daughter Sarah read about the Pennacook and Abenaki tribes that lived in central and southern New Hampshire and of Goffstown.  It's pretty quiet now in the teepee, as everyone has gone inside the inn for dessert.  It looks like a few of the kids and adults (kids) will be sleeping out tonight.  The low tonight will be 26 degrees.  Time to put on another log.

Eat a Peach

I just stopped by my local farm stand and had one of their peaches. WOW! If you haven't had a native peach to tell you it's summer, then you haven't experienced the perfect food. I can remember laying around my yard as a kid, with my friends, and raiding my neighbors peach trees and Concord grape vines, fighting off the yellow jackets for the ripest ones. Just the smell - nothing like it. I think I'm going back to the stand and buy up a few more peaches. Anyone have any good memories or recipes to share? Summer's ending....
