Where Have I Been?

Truth will have it that I have not been very motivated to blog lately.  Two months lately.  With a busy schedule of teaching and shooting schedule, it has been nearly impossible to put down thoughts after the family has crashed and as my own eyes begin to droop as I surf.

I have had alot of fun assignments lately, photographing a tourism conference in Northern New Hampshire, at the Mt Washington resort.  I sandwiched that between a 150 member youth softball league and a Bat Mitzvah.  It was my first time photographing a sports league. Everything went well, as I had my oldest daughter help.  I also used Sports America,
www.sports-america.com, as the lab.  They did a fantastic job and the turn-around was within days.  Many of the parents remarked how quickly they got the pictures back.  I would recommend them.  Let me know of any other labs out there or your experiences shooting sports leagues.

I am also struggling with my website, www.prophoto-ne.com.  I am not getting enough hits and its not really getting me much new business.  I will take any suggestions on layout, search engine optimization, etc.  I would be happy to forward any image in my Photographic Art section for the first 5 useful suggestions.  I use MS Office Live.

It's Memorial Day Weekend.  Let's say thanks to our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and other family members for their work in the military, past and present.

Thanks,
Peter

Happy Easter

Good morning to all!

Today is a sunny and chilly day in New Hampshire.  The Easter service at St Marie's in Manchester was very nice with great arrangements of spring flowers and a sermon of hope.  The Easter Bunny also came to the house...a tradition that has lasted for many years.  Plans call for a trip to my mother-in-law's for dinner and a relaxing day.  Should be able to sneak in a few family portraits as well.  I also added a new link to a professional networking site called LinkedIn.  Check it out and make a connection!  Talk to you soon.  Peter.

Adobe Lightroom

I have started to use Adobe Lightroom. It has some pretty neat stuff in there. I use it for many situations, especially when I shoot weddings and have a lot of images taken under the same lighting conditions. I can make a change to one and sync it with the others that I have selected and literally within minutes, I export them out to the web or my lab for proofing. This thing has shaved hours off of my workflow. If you have it, use it. If you don't or aren't sure, download the trial for 30 days - Try Lightroom. I also added the RSS Feed to Adobe's Killer Tips and Tricks to the right hand column. Come back soon for another visit.

Sleigh Ride in VT

It's Winter Carnival in Brattleboro, VT this week. I'm spending a few days with my kids at the Meadowlark Inn. We had great weather and beautiful afternoon light, for a sleigh ride through the fields and woods surrounding a neighboring farm.
We had a great dinner of beef stew with crusty bread, served up with a few glasses of Bordeaux.
The evening was topped off by the fire, watching the kids play a marathon game of Twister.
Today we have weather moving in that could add to the accumulation, on what has been a record winter for snowfall. Later, I think we are going to do some tubing and maybe catch a movie. But first breakfast.

My Big Sister's Inn

If you haven't had a chance to visit my sister's inn in Brattleboro, VT, you are missing out on a great experience. The inn, my sister and her partner were featured in the March, 2008 home subscribers edition of the Ladie's Home Journal. It was a great article that really highlights their talents as innkeepers, chefs and just plain good people. The article also features two of my photographs, which can also be found on their website Meadowlark Inn, which are included in the layout I shot last year for their site. Go and get away - you'll have a great time!
